  • The Website Launch of Sparks To Flame, Inc. - a Business Development Company in Las Vegas, Nevada

    By admin | April 18, 2008

This week, DF Design Studios had the priviledge of launching the brand new site of Sparks To Flame, Inc., a business development company that provides business coaching services to businessses big and small. They have already helped hundreds of firms and/or individuals establish or grow their wealth, improve work/life balance, work less and achieve more, and live a more content and satisfying life.

View the site HERE at www.sparks2flame.com

Our goal was to develop a site for Sparks To Flame, Inc. that would make good use of ‘call to action’. Simply giving the site visitors readily and easy instructions to sign up for the mailing list, ask a question, register for elearning courses, sign up for a free business effectiveness evaluation etc. Our client Sheryl Parks, President of Sparks To Flame, Inc. was very pleased with the final result of our work. Also incorporated in this website was another custom designed wordpress theme, designed to look and fit right into the design of the site. You can view the blog here.

I came across this on the internet and thought it would be nice to pass on. Download the psd file below. This is very good for “call to action” purposes on websites and can be used to attract attention to a particular product or service on your website. Leave a comment if this helps you out.

    By admin | March 20, 2008

Yesterday we launched the redesigned blog for Pastor Jerry McQuay. It was originally hosted at blogger, but we imported it into wordpress, which offers much more features.

This blog has several plugins, one of which is an email subscription, meaning that everytime a blog is made subscribers will receive the post in their email inbox. Another plugin used is an SEO (search engine optimization) plugin which easily allows the ability to input meta tag data for each post.

What to look for in a Web Designer

    By admin | January 24, 2008

I had a meeting today where a business man I met, told me that the web designers that he tried to business with are so ‘flaky’. This isn’t the first time I heard this comment from someone. It seems as if the webdesigners out there are looking for ‘quickie’ projects where they are concerned about making a quick buck rather than truly meeting the client’s needs. Below are some of my thoughts on what to look for in a webdesigner.

    1. Portfolio – Seeing at least 3 samples of the designers work can give you a pretty good idea of the quality of work that they are able to produce. Ask how involved they were in their projects. You want to make sure the webdesigner can do what you are looking for. Look for diversity in the designs. Are the designs the same for each client or unique to each client? You want to have a designer who can pay attention to every detail of what you are about and can truly express the nature of what you are trying to do.
    2. Testimonials – These are very important as they give you an idea of the experience prior clients had with the webdesigner. What do they have to say about the webdesigner and his work?
    3. Accessibility – I’ve heard of webdesigners that are hard to get in contact with. Sometimes people have to wait weeks before they get a response. Make sure when choosing a designer that you find out how easily accessible they are in case they need to be reached.
    4. Reliability – Very Important. You want to choose a designer who has integrity, is honest and takes your project as serious as you are about it. One way of finding out the reliability of a designer is from testimonials or by talking to former clients of the designer.
    5. Ability to meet deadlines – If your project has to be completed by a certain date. It is imperative that the designer is aware of these expectations and communicate his ability to do complete it in time.
    6. Business Process – How does the designer do business? Does he work with contracts. If a designer agrees to do a project for you without a contract involved. Beware! This can turn out to be bad in the long run.
    7. How much? – Make sure the designer can give you upfront pricing, and always ask about domain and hosting.
    8. Web Standards – Does the designer build websites according to the latest web standards? Most designers in an effort to do ‘quickie’ projects, build sites that are table based, which means that they are using code that’s outdated and will turn up with tons of errors when validated. This results in pages loading slower than they should and can cause errors across multiple browsers.

    The Launch of Recklessly Abandoned

    By admin | January 12, 2008

This week, we launched the Recklessly Abandoned Website. This site is on of my prized designs. It is completely standards compliant built with xhtml and css with some flash elements making great use of advanced css techniques. I designed the site myself using Photoshop CS3, then took on the challenge of coding it. One thing I’m most proud of is that the pages validate.

This site is for a 9 month Christian Youth Intership program, and features a login system for interns to go into a private secured area of the site, and also features an online application with the ability to pay for the application fee using Paypal.

Also, my client Jen McQuay is more than happy with the work done on this site. I’ve exceeded her expectations delivering professional and custom design work. You can check out the site at www.recklesslyabandoned.org.
